My day trip to San Francisco

It was a beautiful day! I went to the Legion of Honor in Lincoln Park. It's been a long time since I've been there. I think I went with an art history class when I went to Yuba College years and years ago. It was nice to go and do things at my own pace. Some paintings I read more about and others I just walked by because I didn't like them. My art preferences are quite different from my sisters, I like older more realistic paintings that have vibrant color. I stand there and wonder how the artist got that piece of fabric to look like I could reach out and touch it. I found that I also liked some of the German artists that painted things that looked just a little off, like the proportions of the bodies were not quite right or something. I had lunch in the cafe and then went back to look at some of the ones I liked the most. I surprised myself because I actually liked the one Picasso that was there. An even bigger surprise was the painting by Salvadore Dali that I actually liked. I don't generally like his work because of the subject matter but this one I liked. The detail and the tiny little brushes he must have used fascinated me. I loved the way he painted the rock formation. I also found out that I'm not actually that big a fan of the impressionist painters. I always thought I was. There are a few of them that I do like but in general I don't like the style. The museum is also home to several of Rodin's most famous works, including "The Thinker."After I had my fill of art I went outside to check out the grounds. Yesterday was such a beautiful day, it was warm and clear and sunny. I think the Legion is my favorite museum in SF, the grounds are so beautiful and the view of the Golden Gate Bridge and the bay is incredible. I will definitely go back another time. I just missed the installation of a Tiffany, Faberge and Lalique jewelry and fine arts exhibition.
