Hey blog readers! This is my 1000th post!
A big thank you goes out to all of you for being such loyal readers. I hope I’ve brought you some inspiration or just something pretty to look at in the two years I’ve had this blog. I’m so excited about this milestone and I want to thank you for being my readers so I’ve decided to do a couple giveaways to celebrate.
I'm really excited to offer this first giveaway, it's my very first mug rug!
What in the world is a mug rug you ask? It's a mini quilt or even a mini placemat that is just the right size for your cuppa morning joe, and maybe a scone. How cute is it?!? I find it hard to believe that you could have this little cutey sitting by your desk and not smile when you see it. In fact I might venture a guess that it could actually cheer you up if you were having a bad day!
It was so much fun to make! It's very special too, because it has vintage fabrics in it that were in my grandmothers stash.
To enter this giveaway please leave a comment on this post telling me about something that makes you smile. To enter a second time, please link this post to your facebook page. After you've done so, come back and leave a second comment. Leaving a comment is easy, if you have trouble please send me an email and I will do my best to help. The giveaway will close a week from today, Wednesday the 22nd of September. Oh, and please be sure to either leave an email in your comment if I have no other way to get hold of you if you win.
One more thing I want to give you today before I head off to accomplish a few things... Some of you may remember when I made my paper wall flowers. I was inspired by these plastic wall flowers that click into magnetic pins attached to the wall. At the time my wall was ugly apartment white and I didn't want white flowers so I made my own! Plus it was super cheap to do. If you can trace and use scissors you can definitely do this!
If you want to try making them yourself, I'm sharing the templates I created! You should be able to click on the images below and print the 8 1/2x11 sheets yourself. I traced them onto cardboard then used them to trace onto the colored sheets of paper. Once you have them cut out you can use a pen or pencil to curl the edges up a bit.
Check back for a couple more giveaways happening later this week in honor of 1000 posts!

Lots of things make me smile, but lately the things that make me smile most are how excited my puppy is to see me when I get home from work, and the feeling (of great accomplishment) that I get after finishing a run that's the furthest I've run yet. Thanks for the giveaway opp! Your new blog changes are beautiful!
Lately the thing that makes me smile is the reaction of John when he feels our baby move. So cute!
Loving your blog and that is an adorable mug rug!
Thinking about my dad makes me smile, which is huge, because for a long time it just made me cry.
Oh, geez...that is super cute, and I love the fabrics.
What makes me smile is waking up to find the dog curled up by my stomach and our cat curled up at my feet.
that mug rug makes me smile. also, for reason, watching a cat lick its own shoulder cracks me up. they're all twisted up with their tongues out - it's about as ungraceful as a cat can be.
Lots of stuff makes me smile. Hanging out with friends, acting crazy, hearing Aaron go "hi Mama!" and my favorite - doing a jig. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that mug rug!
Mug Rugs make me smile! But so does a Giants win. And when something really really good happens to someone that really really needs it - THAT makes me smile!
What makes me smile? Watching babies and toddlers interacting with their loved ones.....watching my cat clean between her toes! :)
Love the Mug rug!
YOU make me smile. :)
Having that first cup of coffee in the morning makes me smile and feel warm all over especially sitting on one of those adorable mug rugs!
My doggie definitely makes smile. Especially first thing in the morning - she's SUPER cuddly. And like Sarah, the jig makes me smile too. :)

I also tweeted/FB this post. LOOOOOVE these mug rugs!
Two things make me smile...my daughters laugh and a hot cup of tea!
