I'm here!

Ok,so I made it! I'm here! And there are really vespa everywhere!
For the most part the trip was ok. There was a bit of drama but I went with it pretty well. My flight out of SF was overbooked but I had a seat. The flight was full but it was fine. When I got to Frankfurt (my only layover) the airport was a mess. They had to park the plane way far away and bus us in. Because of that I was almost late for my flight, I had to stand in line for security which sucked. I ran for the gate and had to get on another bus to take me out to the itty bitty plane that I sat in for 3 hours while they waited for enough ground crew to load up the luggage and de-ice the plane. Frankfurt was covered in snow and I stood in the door of the plane watching it snow, it was cool, I don't ever remember seeing it snow anywhere in my lifetime.
The airport in Florence is really small and by the time I got there I was done with traveling. I had to go to the bathroom and none of them were open and by that time I was really tired. I didn’t hardly sleep on the plane at all.
When I got to Em’s house we hung out for a while and I took a quick shower then she took me out walking. We went to dinner at a place Acaza Mia (or something like that) and I had my first authentic Italian pizza. It was pretty darn good and we have leftovers for lunch today.
It’s raining here and it’s really cold. It snowed a couple days before I got here and it’s been so cold it hasn’t melted.
I was so tired last night I thought for sure I would just fall asleep no problem but it didn’t go down that way. I could not sleep! It’s so frustrating to be exhausted and not be able to sleep. The noises from the street bounce up the walls and come right into the house. I laid awake for most of the night, I think I did sleep for a bit on my own at some point. At 2am I woke up and read for a while to try to get myself to fall back asleep but it didn’t work. At 5am Em heard me wake up and gave me sleeping pills. Ahhhh, bliss! I think I got about 5 hours of real sleep so I’m feeling a lot better this morning.
We’re going out to explore today!
Ciao!

I'm glad you got there safe. I know how frustrating flying can be, and yeah, at Frankfurt you have to go through security when you change terminals (which often happens when you fly internationally).

If you can get your hands on these, take some Melatonin supplements. They'll help you acclimate to the time zone difference easier.

Failing that, if the new environment is really loud, ear-plugs.

Enjoy Firenze!
