A day in the city...

Well, today I had an interview in San Francisco. Sadly, I don't think it went all that well. We don't have to go into that. Seing as how I was in SF I thought I would take advantage afterwards and do a bit of light exploring. I was right in the neighborhood of the ferry building and I've been wanting to go there for a while now. After shimmi-ing (is that a word?) out of my interview suit and into jeans and a t-shirt whilst sitting in my drivers seat I took off to explore, after putting a chunk of change in the meter of course.
The ferry building did not dissapoint. I loved it! One of the vendors/stalls/stores I wanted to visit was Heath Ceramics. They are famous for their beautiful pieces made right in Sausalito. They make beautiful dishes, and tiles. I fell in love with the most adorable and perfectly colored vase but alas, one shouldn't be dropping their dough on fun things like that right now.

I did however drop a mere $3 and change on the cutest little jar ever! I have done a very small bit of canning with my mom but we've always just used ball jars for canning. I didn't even know the company called Weck existed but if I ever do canning on my own someday (and I have money to spend on the jars) I want to use these! The shapes are fantastic, they can be used for a myriad of things beyond canning and did I say they were cute?! Anything that has a strawberry on the side must be considered cute! This is an excerpt from their website... At the beginning of the last century, the J. WECK Company was founded in Oflingen Germany, at this time they developed and introduced the home-canning method for glass jars. Since then, WECK has made this method popular not only in Germany and Europe, but worldwide.

Anyhow, I got a sandwich and sat outside the ferry building facing Treasure Island and watched the world go by.  Oh, and did you see the delicious yummies I picked up at the ferry building? The bread is from Acme and it was still hot when it was handed over! I can't wait to eat it with that Cowgirl Creamery fromage blanc smeared all over it! Mmmmmmm!!!!
On the way back down to the south bay I stopped at a beach in Half Moon Bay. The weather over there made me want to light a fire and curl up with a good book and some hot cider. It was cold and so misty that my hair got soaked and the trees along the road were dripping. I went for a little walk in the sand and headed home.
Back to reality...
